Contract Description:
The Columbia Basin Fish Accords (MOA) represents a major new salmon recovery and mitigation initiative in the basin to which all on-going fish management processes will link in some manner.
These links, for the most part, are weak or nonexistent.  The Accords also create significant new commitments to collaborative activities among the Parties, with commensurate increases in staff workloads.  The majority of Yakama Nation FRMP efforts in the next 10 years will focus on the implementation of Accord actions in habitat, hatchery, and hydro operations within the Yakama Nation Ceded Area.

The Administration/Coordination project is intended to accomplish several goals: support the reassignment and acquisition of staff resources necessary to address these new MOA commitments, create a project description document for review by the Independent Scientific Review Panel, begin assembling the materials needed for two watershed restoration offices and associated staff and produce document which will guide staff in selecting and prioritizing MOA projects.

For FY14, we are adding a new entry level Biologist position to work with the Nutrient Assessment Project.
Also new in FY14 is the need for an increased level of coordination with WDFW prior to, during and after conducting any habitat restoration projects on WDFW lands. A new MOU has been developed and signed detailing how this coordination needs to occur.
We will continue to sub-contract with the UCSRB to provide support funds to ensure that project coordination continues at the sub-basin level.
Columbia Cascades Fisheries Enhancement Group was not able to complete the report for the Wenatchee Nutrient Assessment study that YN cost-shared in FY2012-13, so we will include a new sub-contract with CCFEG in FY14 that will allow the completion of the final report in May 2014.
The need for expanded Outreach and Public Relations continues to be important and YN will sub-contract with a Graphics Design/Public Relations firm to develop materials for Outreach and public meetings that describe our efforts in salmon recovery.
